Structure:
There will be four rounds of polls whenever possible for all elections:
Round 1: Students polled will be asked if they want to run.
Round 2: The candidates mentioned in Round 1 will be emailed and if they answer positively or do not answer they will be included (an option will be provided to declare your candidacy on the website).
Round 3: The candidates on the poll in Round 2 will be included as well as all students who announced their candidacy in Round 2 (an option will be included on the website).
Round 4: The candidates on the poll in Round 3 will be included as well as all students who announced their candidacy in Round 3 (an option will be included on the website).
For rounds two, three, and four there will be three sections to the polls:
Section 1: What values are most important to you in the Student Council?
Section 2: What functions of the Student Council are most important to you?
Section 3: What candidates do you plan to vote for (described in 1.1.1-1.1.4)? (respondents will be asked to select up to two candidates)
All sections in all rounds of polling will include write in sections that will be reported as written (barring obscene and irrelevant material)
All functions (ex: polls, website, emails, etc…) will be run by Theodore Gercken and students approved by both him and Dean Chabon
Reporting:
Immediately after the conclusion of a poll (or with a brief delay) poll results will be available on a publicly accessible website (that needs a @thecollegepreparatoryschool email to view)
With the exception of Section 3 (barring obscene and irrelevant material) poll results will be reported with all transparency
For Section 3 candidates will be assigned a letter which their results will be reported under for the duration of the campaign
The candidate will be given their letter if they respond positively to an email laying on the risks of seeing the letter
Candidates that receive their letter will be contacted after the election to see how it affected their campaign and them personally (this information will be reported to Dean Chabon)
Ethics:
All candidates that want to be included in polls will be
All candidates that do not want to be included in polls will not be
Names of candidates in conjunction with results will never be disclosed officially or unofficially
If a candidate in an election works on the polling they will be asked to step down or will not have access to that elections data (if they are the only person capable of running the polls that election will not be covered)
All students working on the polling are bound by these rules and violation of them will result in immediate termination with the possibility of review by Theodore Gercken and Dean Chabon
If all students are terminated polling will cease and this organization will be shut down
